Manu Cardim, a cloud engineer does not need to specialise in MySQL, but must be comfortable using and managing it as part of cloud-based infrastructures and should have concrete workjng knowledge regarding the same.
If you are working on cloud migration probects, app hosting etc. you will most likely find MySQL extremely useful.
However, you can learn PostgreSQL or NoSQL instead, but it is best to pair ypur MySQL knowledge with these instead of substituting MySQL.
